Mindset
Our safety culture is simple – If we think safe and work safe then everyone gets home safe.
All our people, particularly those delivering on-site, have a 'Stop Work Authority'.
This is a crucial part of our safety culture, empowering every employee to intervene when they perceive a potential safety risk. We continuously remind all team members of the authority to challenge any activity that appears unsafe, regardless of the individual's role or rank within the organisation. By promoting a proactive approach to safety, OCU ensures that everyone has a voice in maintaining a safe work environment.
The 'Stop Work Authority' is deeply embedded in OCU's broader safety mindset, which is encapsulated by the mantra, "If we think safe and work safe, then everyone gets home safe."
This mindset is communicated through various channels, including posters, lanyards and banners that travel to different sites, encouraging team members to commit to the safety culture.
The emphasis on speaking up, planning thoroughly, and respecting each other's concerns is designed to foster a collaborative and vigilant work environment. By making safety a shared responsibility, OCU not only protects its employees but also strengthens its overall operational integrity.
