Project Description:

OCU were awarded the contract by Scottish and Southern Energy Renewables Ltd for the Design, Construction, Commissioning and Handover of the 132kV/33kV Electrical Infrastructure and Substation Plant and Control Systems.  We also provided all Civil Engineering works and installation of the Battery Containers located at the Ferrybridge Power Station.


OCU are the appointed Principal Contractor responsible for the co-ordination of the works with the Client and their nominated Battery Technology Supplier.

Installation of:

  • 180MVA, 132/33/33Kv ONAN/ONAF, OLTC Transformer

  • 145kV, Three Phase Dead Tank Outdoor Circuit Breaker

  • Surge arrestors and Disconnector within the National Grid compound

  • Disconnector within the BESS compound

  • 40KA HAM CT/VT & HAM metering

  • 33kV Earthing transformers and BESS auxiliary transformers

  • BESS LVAC Boards 400V AC

  • Two-story switch house with integral spares room

Outcome

  • Programme is being delivered on-time and on-budget.

  • Zero harm record.

  • Full regulatory and legislation compliance achieved, with no environmental incidents.

  • Critical dates and milestones achieved throughout programme.

  • Implementation of control measures to ensure non-interruption to the National Grid Network Operations during construction.

  • OCU are providing a maintenance contract now the park has commenced commercial operations.

  • Objective of 10% Biodiversity Net Gain has been successfully achieved.
