46 Weeks
Duration
Challenge
• Design approval process with key parties: BESS manufacturer, Route to market provider, O&M contractor and DNO
• Stakeholders and Service providers consulted for crossing large diameter water mains, two high-pressure gas pipelines and alteration of fibre networks
• 33kV grid route required close liaison and co-operation with landowners
• Challenging ground conditions on site
Solution
• Early investigation of drainage design undertaken, with design altered to consider catchment from local topography and the uncharted field and carrier drains
• Following initial pre-contract design issues, an alternative design solution was developed to accommodate the 33kV grid route over a historic bridge
• A detailed SCADA system was designed and implemented through extensive consultation between the electrical subcontractor and OEMs
Outcome
• Over 4,000m³ earthworks, 2 basement structures, a DNO substation building (40m³ ) and 28 separate foundations (150m³)
• 2km of 33kV Contestable grid route and 7km of HV/LV cabling
• Imported 6F Capping 10,000t and Imported Type 1 3,000t
• Two powered storage containers, 27 Tesla megapack 2 XL battery systems and 14 MV Transformers
