Challenge
Design and build for a new technology with detailed design development progressed alongside the construction works.
Design review and approval process with several key parties – BESS manufacturer, Route to market provider, O&M contractor and DNO.
Stakeholders and Service providers were consulted for the crossing of large diameter watermains, two high-pressure gas pipelines and alteration of fibre networks.
Several landowners, residents and businesses along the contestable 33kV grid route required close liaison and co-operation.
Challenging ground conditions on site required floated roads, ground improvement layers and areas of rock break-out.
