Challenge
New contract to OCU with no previous experience working on the Vodafone network.
We were awarded the maintenance road contract which meant upskilling of our existing workforce.
A new delivery team needed to be created.
We needed to ensure familiarisation with systems and work management tools.
Solution
OCU’s Telecoms management team have a wealth of experience, further enhanced by a large multi-skilled workforce.
Our teams were quickly and successfully upskilled to ensure an efficient service.
Both OCU management and the engineer workforce are familiar with working in an adaptive environment which enabled quick set up and deployment to support the new work stream.

OCU is contracted by Vodafone to deliver fibre and civils call out services on a 24/7/365 basis throughout England and Wales.

Outcome
Vodafone was a new Telecommunications Maintenance contract awarded to OCU in 2022 with a handover from the previous incumbent.
Services include fibre restoration and civils maintenance including S81’s of which urgent requests have a two-hour service level agreement.
In a relatively short period we have been able to demonstrate how reactive OCU can be utilising our multi-skilled workforce.
We have met and exceeded requirements on many different work streams across a large geographical area.
After successfully delivering the road maintenance works for Vodafone for a year, OCU were awarded the Vodafone rail maintenance contract in 2023.
