Bringing training closer to our teams with our OCU Academy Mobile Training Unit

As OCU continues to grow, ensuring our colleagues can access high-quality training wherever they are working is increasingly important.
To support this, our in-house training function, OCU Academy, has introduced a new mobile training unit, giving colleagues greater access to training, refresher sessions and competency assessments closer to where they work.
Designed to support both classroom-based and practical learning, the mobile unit can be deployed directly to project sites and operational locations. This helps reduce travel requirements, minimise disruption to operational activities and provide greater flexibility for field-based teams.
Training can also be planned around the needs and schedules of individual projects. Whether a team requires a refresher session, a competency assessment or time to focus on a particular safety topic, the unit provides a space to bring people together and support learning where it is needed.
More than a training vehicle
Alongside training delivery, the mobile training unit provides a dedicated space for a range of activities, including:
Safety initiatives and stand-down events
Refresher training and competency assessments
Site inductions
Team engagement activities
Project and business events
The flexibility of the unit means it can support both planned training and wider workforce engagement.
Supporting safe and effective delivery
By bringing learning opportunities directly to our teams, the mobile training unit is making training more accessible and helping people maintain the knowledge, skills and competencies they need to perform their roles safely and effectively.
It also gives our teams more opportunities to gain new qualifications and build on their existing skills, supporting their continued development as their roles and the needs of the business evolve.
