We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Bam Bam, a specialist in geotechnical engineering services for solar energy projects in Australia and New Zealand. The business, which has worked in partnership with AEC on a number of utility-scale solar developments, further strengthens OCU’s footprint and service offering across Australia and New Zealand.

Bam Bam, based in Newcastle, Australia, is a trusted provider of piling, pre-drilling, proof-load testing, and mechanical installation services to the renewable energy market. With experience across a broad range of solar projects, including Aldoga and Broadsound solar farms in Australia and Lauriston solar farm in New Zealand, Bam Bam has established a reputation for technical precision, safe operations, and timely project execution.

This acquisition positions OCU to accelerate the delivery of integrated infrastructure services for existing and new clients.

Michael Hughes, CEO of OCU Group, commented: “This is a focused capability investment that increases our capacity to meet growing demand across the Australia and New Zealand energy transition. Bam Bam brings proven expertise in solar panel installation, and combining that strength with AEC’s broader project delivery model will enable us to mobilise more efficiently and deliver even better outcomes for our clients.”

Steve Urquhart, founder of AEC, said: “We know the Bam Bam team well and have delivered some of our best projects alongside them. Integrating further strengthens our ability to respond quickly to market needs and reinforces our delivery offering at a critical time in Australia and New Zealand’s new energy growth.”
Bam Bam’s Co-founder and Managing Director, Sven Nickel, added “AEC and Bam Bam have always been very compatible, including a shared commitment to client needs, and delivering high quality standards without complication. Together, as part of OCU, we’re stronger and in a great position for further growth,”

The move supports OCU’s disciplined international expansion strategy and adds further depth to its growing platform in Australia and New Zealand.
