We are pleased to announce the acquisition of a majority shareholding in All Energy Contracting (AEC), a multidisciplinary contractor specialising in renewables and energy infrastructure services.
Established in 2018 and headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, AEC delivers solar, wind, storage, civil, and power infrastructure services across Australia and New Zealand’s growing clean energy sector. The business has established a strong reputation for providing safe, timely, and technically assured projects across the entire project lifecycle. It will continue to be led by its current management team under its existing brand.
Michael Hughes, CEO of OCU Group, commented, “This investment represents a measured first step in our international journey. AEC has built a strong reputation in energy infrastructure, and the alignment of values and ambition between our teams makes this a natural fit. A number of our energy transition clients operate internationally and have asked whether OCU can support them beyond the UK. We are already pursuing opportunities in Australia with several of these clients, creating further growth potential for AEC. Together, we have the opportunity to deliver greater impact across Australia’s energy transition landscape.”
AEC will serve as a platform for regional growth, enabling OCU to contribute to Australia’s ambitious new energy targets and increasing demand for specialist power infrastructure services. The partnership brings together aligned values and complementary capabilities, accelerating the ability of both organisations to deliver high-quality outcomes for new and existing clients.

Following completion Steve Urquhart, founder of AEC, said, “Partnering with OCU Group is a significant new chapter for us. Their strength, in depth clear focus on energy transition, and commitment to people and systems development will support our long-term growth. We see strong cultural alignment and look forward to shared learning across both teams.”
Australia represents a well-supported and high-growth energy market, with substantial investment planned in generation, transmission and storage. In addition to strengthening OCU’s position in the non-regulated sector, the acquisition opens future opportunities in the regulated power sector, including participation in long-term grid reinforcement programmes.
The transaction is aligned with OCU’s strategic focus on disciplined, long-term growth through the integration of values-led businesses operating in resilient, forward-looking markets. AEC’s proven operational leadership and local market insight will be complemented by OCU’s experience, systems, innovation and people development approach, supporting safety, continuous improvement and sustainable expansion.
