Recognising safety excellence: Our Safety Action Awards
Celebrating the people who speak up, take action and help keep everyone safe
At OCU Group, creating a strong safety culture means empowering everyone to speak up and challenge anything that doesn’t feel right.
To recognise colleagues who demonstrate these behaviours and put our ‘Think Safe + Work Safe = Home Safe’ safety mindset into practice, OCU Group introduced our Safety Action Awards in January 2026. The awards celebrate positive safety interventions that help prevent harm, reduce risk and protect colleagues across our projects and operations.
Every intervention matters. Whether identifying a potential risk, challenging something that doesn’t look or feel right, or using our 'Stop Work Authority', speaking up gives us an opportunity to address concerns and strengthen safe working practices.
This approach is also reflected in the growing number of safety observations and opportunities for improvement being raised through OCU One, our safety and incident reporting system.
These have increased threefold compared with the same period last year, demonstrating greater engagement across the business and a more proactive approach to identifying potential risks and opportunities to strengthen safe working practices.
Through our Safety Action Awards, we continue to reinforce our safety mindset and recognise the important role every individual plays in keeping themselves and those around them safe.
